I should preclude, this post is specific to Blitz..

And no.. I'm not talking about a new young phenom member rapidly climbing the ranks..I mean someone that was 1900 in december, then in the 1200's in Jan and then back to 1900 a month later..

Are they account sharing?  drunk chess?  sandbagging to play in lower bracket tournaments?  I see this quite a bit and I am always leery to offer a rematch.

You should report them. I don't know why such blatant rating manipulation isn't automatically picked up.

I'm 1900 and, even drunk, can only imagine dropping to like the 1600 or more likely 1700. Somethin' ain't right!

The player is what used to be called manic-depressive, gets the 1900 when manic and the 1200 when depressive?  The player had something going on outside of chess that impacted chess performance?  That rating change appears strange, but what possible motive could there be for deliberately dropping from 1900 to 1200?  If you can't figure a motive that would lead you or someone you know to do that deliberately what is there to report?

Notice in the OP:

"sandbagging to play in lower bracket tournaments"

And even ill, drunk, and going without sleep for 24 hours all at the same time, I wouldn't drop 700 points.

I have a bad habit of playing blitz when I shouldn't. It could be I'm too tired, intoxicated, distracted, etc. I still never lose more than 100-150 points before I start to rebound and I suck at blitz so I would say that big of a swing is probably sandbagging.

Are you sure you were looking at blitz ratings each time and didn't maybe see blitz in one instance and daily the next?

I looked through your archive and all your opponents were within 100 points of you, so if it was one of those you must have hit them in the middle of the swing.

That seems very suspicious. The member is probably sandbagging to win in lower rated tournaments. You should report that member.

Well, this much rating drop is not very common but come on,it can happen in internet Blitz. But the thing is that it's not so easy to drop so much rating on chess.com so soon.Might be cheating or might just be a typical blitz drop.Hard to say.

I'm not the next door monkey, and apparently a lot of things.

One chess book? Do you complete it then each week? How do read the book? Playing it out on a board / in your head?

I read more then 1 book each week but not chess.

This is suspicious, probably some chess cheating

Normally a loss is a 0-30 rating drop.  Unless 1900 vs 300 and the 300 one won.  But they will only loose about 100.   So I am assuming that they played people very low in rating and loss all of them.   Then they play people in the 2000+ range and win all of them.

Does that come naturally by reading lots of chess books / playing lots of chess games?

yes but how fast you will become a master depends on your genes. good genes - faster, bad genes - very slowly.
