No. Most other countries "hate" us because of the same smug, superior attitude you exhibit in the post I quoted. When I have gone abroad, I often found myself cringing at the behavior of Americans (mostly teenagers) acting like fools.
Why are we so smug? Our culture is a joke. We sit around on our fat behinds watching Paris Hilton reality shows and then go see Iron Man 14 at the multiplex. Even our "history" channel has nothing but pawn stars, swamp people, and other stupid pap.
We make nothing. At least nothing worth having except for a few electronic goods. We are in debt to everyone and their sister, and yet... we scorn them.
Quite frankly... the only thing we are better than anyone else at is blowing things up and killing people. We are real good at that.
America really needs to wake up and return to something real, before its to late. It probably already is.

If the U.S. was surgically removed from the planet; including all the land mass and resources, all the humans, all the military, every inch of Wall Street, would the rest of the planet, who mostly hate everybody else also, unite and become some sort of Utopia? I don't give that option a chance in hell.
This nation still builds things, but we've chosen to allow too much of our manufacturing to leave our shores. Some of it for cheaper labor. Probably more of it to avoid environmental regs. I'm disappointed in the fact that our business community has shown so little loyalty to our country.
Much of the trouble we have in the world is the result of our actions during the cold war when we would support any brutal despot who said he wasn't a communist. Unfortunately, the cold war has ended and we haven't changed our paradigm significantly.
Much of our national identity is based on the mythology of WWII. We were a huge part of the defeat of the axis powers. I would never say anything to demean the heroic sacrifices of our brave fighting men. We're taught that the US won the war in Europe, yet the Soviets inflicted 80% of the casualties on the Nazis. I didn't learn that until I was an adult. Maybe we need a more objective and less ultra nationalistic attitude toward the rest of the world.

However you continue to refuse to take the primary issue most of us have with you and your position. That is, the childish inability to say "I am sorry" after effing up. You said "never apologize and those are like me are asking: "why the F not?". The only people stupid or desperate enough to attack us are terroritsts, and they don't care how large our military is.

I didn't say it was the reason. I said it was the mythology. If not for the Soviets, the Germans would have been very difficult to defeat. Would the atomic bomb have been used in Europe?
