Yes indeed I saw Tiger. Also I seem to remember seeing Tigran Petrosian win the Chess Championship of Georgia ( USSR ) in 1945. Mind you I had not yet been born but that is of no consequence. There are people posting in these forms who say that it is possible to remember things that you did not even see but your memory might conjure these events up. So perhaps my entire life was just an imagined memory, boy is that ever confusing.
And Yet MORE Silly Rules In Chess lol
Had a bit of a chuckle earlier with a newer thread here. The fellow with the thread was complaining that higher rated players just abort and won't play him but then he goes right on and says that he does not like to play anyone rated lower than him. People who have posted there did mention to the fellow that just as he won't play lower rated people those who are at a higher level than him may choose to avoid him. The funny part was the fact that this player either did not catch onto what he was being told or chose to ignore it ( Zoooom, right over his head ).
I just noticed that a cute older thread has been brought back that asks the age old question " Why set up the board with a White Square on the right side ? ". Well why do we drive on the right-hand side of the road in North America for example ? It is a lot easier for people if a rule is set up and people just follow it. However it would in theory be possible to just have all White squares on the board and then divide things up using thin black lines as markers between the squares. It is an idea to consider I guess.
Thanks for the posts Macer75.
Another thread that has just been brought back is entitled: " What strange Chess rules can you think up ? ". Rather a stange thread I would say . Mind you this thread here has a number of silly rules many of which tend to be funny as well.
Someone has started yet another thread stating that the Stalemate has to go. Well I like the Stalemate and if you cannot get your opponent into a Checkmate then you only deserve 1/2 point for the game ( there is nothing silly about that ).

Quite agree Stalemate - there is a logic to it. The only rule that I think is an ad on (although necessary for the modern game) is en passant. Which on the surface seems contrived. I realise that introducing the ability of the pawns moving 2 squares to start needed a limiting factor.
Shippen: Thanks for leaving a post. I remember many years ago when I was in a High School club ( & learning the game ) and someone used the en-passant move on me I thought what the heck is he doing ?
I first encountered castling when my stepbrother employed it in our first chess game, soon after we met. Our dad admitted that he'd never taught me about that, and so our first real game had to be postponed, at least until I'd booked up a little more on the rules.
I still remember though the way my new brother made the move: by grabbing and moving king and rook simultaneously while announcing, loudly, "Castle!" As though that were part of the whole castling ceremony.
Thanks for the post AndyClifton, I got a chuckle out of that.
I've spotted another thread that might just belong on the " Silly Thread " list . The question is asked as to whether Carlsen has any talent. Wow, there is nothing logical that I can say after that, nothing at all.
Well the parade continues, just spotted another thread where someone may have invented another new Opening ( or perhaps Daeth returneth ??? ).
And yet more silly threads:
" Does Carlsen have Talent " is an interesting thread. I mean it is obvious that he is a real Moron and therefore he will compete for the WCC in November.
" Fischer was a one-hit Wonder ", Oh would that I was such a one-hit Wonder. To be a GM and then also a World Championsip ( Hmmm, that's at least two hits I think ).
Does anyone have talent? (heehee!) You might think it obvious, but there are several goofs around here who would beg to differ...
Thanks for the post AndyC ( Sorry your name here is a bit long ).
Just saw another silly thread which states that players should be forced to resign ( Oh Boy ).
Yes and somebody had something going about " playing Chess makes you create stupid threads ", another funny one there.
Wow, really? You saw Tiger Feinstein golfing as a little kid?
