Google play has been updated, can download now.
andriod app update pushed out yesterday

I used to have the app, but had to discard it, sadly the bug issues were far too persistent and consistent, other alternatives are available on google play.

I was referring to chess.com's official android app, Chess - Play & Learn, I had it a while ago, I resorted to Chess Free from AI Factory but a friend from here recommended Chess for Android by Aart Bik.

When exactly was this happening? Aren't you off-topic? We are talking about the recent update, not the app in itself.

And kiwi, may I recommend investing a few bucks into Unbalance Corp's "The Chess". Definitely the best and believe me I have them all ;)

Well after having read the posts on this forum, I can see that when I had the app from the offset of its launch, it had issues, some were resolved and it does seem sadly there are still bug issues even with the update according to this forum. This forum rekindled an interest in downloading it again but... I was just checking to see if the new updated version was receiving positve feedback as still the app boasts much more than others on the market, but if its been rolled back for modifying, clearly not.

Had the rolled back version installed but it kept crashing until I had it completely removed and reinstalled
Now the old version works just fine.
Good luck patching things in the new version!

please fix the flipping board in analysis mode issue. cant you.have this as an option lime in the web app so it is always flipped??? as it is mow the analysis feature is pretty unusable for me if playing black.

Had to uninstall then reinstall, seems to be back to old functionality. Highly recommend an official beta program next time. You can build a lot of positive goodwill that way. As opposed to what just happened.

why does the update require access to my phone calls?
I'm not a techie, but frightening permissions like that usually turn out to have mundane reasons. For example, access to phone calls in an app that "shouldn't" have anything to do with calls is usually so that if someone calls you while you are using the app, it knows how to behave accordingly.
Similarly people get excited about "Torch" apps wanting access to operate the phone camera. Innocent explantation is that it's the only way, for now, to use the LED that was installed for the flash.
Anyway, Kansha, Jaclyn, and team: Thanks for reverting. I have a usable app again now :)

I am extremely happy to see the previous version back and will likely remain a premium member now.
Whoever is in charge of mobile needs to be fired. A few months ago an update was released that caused ads to be shown after every action and then the app was reverted. Now the app was upgraded to a completely unusable, unstable version and had to be reverted. Just leave it alone! We are playing CHESS, we do not need anything fancy or any neat looking interfaces. Just keep it simple.

completely agree!!!

The new app again...it crashes all the time on my samsung galaxy tablet, there is no way to show tournaments and during a play no possibility to offer draw. I agree to those who said that the new game button that turns up all the time is very annoying and its easy to start a new game not meaning to.
There is no explanation about the different functionalities and i dont understand half of it. Is there any possibility to regain the older version until the new is fixed?
Tell me where to report and i will report !!
