I think the OP meant that someone cheated and was not caught for an extended period of time.

Careful there. You can get banned for claiming/ admitting that you cheat, regardless of whether or not you actually do.
And regarding the original question: yes, I'm sure there are some people out there who've used an engine for 1 or 2 moves (and maybe a few more), and were never caught.
According to the chess.com statistics, 1 member is banned for cheating every 15 minutes. There is actually a list of 'caught cheaters'. The question is... are around there cheaters that are not caught ? What would be the list of the 'uncaught cheaters' ? How large would that list be ?
