idk i just clicked on automate?? lol it works for me just make sure you're in the beta program

Actually, I think "development" stage is completed isn't it? A lot of people tested it when it came out, but now it seems like very few are on automate. I played a little, but I don't think you can send automate challenges yet (otherwise I'd offer a game).

Challenges are coming. Some backend stuff changed too, such as some balancing of material values.
This sounds really interesting, I'm excited to try it out
what is a group? does it mean a club? i think i am in it, but i don't really know why

If you go to chess.com/beta (that's the link) then it'll tell you that maybe your not eligible and so the criteria you have to meet is be a chess.com member for at least 30 days and be active in community forums. I guess joining the chess.com Beta club might help so here is the link, https://www.chess.com/club/chess-com-beta.
