One must not aim at overreaching others nor believe that the strength which lies in overreaching is virtue, and obediance to the laws, cowardice.  For this is the vilest state of mind and from it arises everything which is opposed to the good things,  evil and hurt...    Tyranny too, so great an evil it as it is, comes from nothing but lawlesness. And some men believe in this and others become hostile , but the mass either by skill or power would be too much for and would prevail. Anyone who thinks a tyrant arises from anything but lawlessness and overreaching, is a fool.         PLAY CHESS

"Awardchess, you are a moron, and one of the rudest people I have met here. Frankly, I think you should be ashamed of yourself. You keep trying to get attention in the worst possible way. What the heck is wrong with you?
You should write another lame poem about your refusal to resign in dead lost positions and for taking so many vacations, trying to avoid losses as long as you can... I am sure that poem wil be as goofy and passive-agressive as this one.
Honestly, you are a piece of work and missing a few screws- if that is not obvious to everyone by now- and I am being nice..."

Looking Up!

Man left to someone also his own bout-home...

Last time in life not starving and alone...

His lovely star looking down, his river looking up!

And where is his life? Or just it was a trap?

Look down from above on the countless herds of men and their countless solemnities, and their infinitely varied voyagings in storms and calms, and the differences among those who are born, who live together, and die.  and consider, too, the life lived by others in olden time, and the life of those who will live after thee, and the life now lived among barbarous nations, and how many know not even thy name, and how many will soon forget it, and how they who perhaps now are praising  thee will very soon  blame thee, and that neither a posthumous name is of any value, nor reputation, nor anything else.   PLAY CHESS

If thou didst ever see a hand cut off, or a foot, or a head, lying anywhere apart from the rest of the body, such does a man make himself , as far as he can, who is not content with what happens, and seperates himself  from others, or does anything unsocial. Suppose that thou hast detached thyself from the natural unity- for thou hast cut thyself off - yet here there is this beautiful provision, that it is in thy power again to unite thyself . God has allowed this to no other part, after it has become seperated and cut asunder, to come together again. But consider the kindness by which he has distinguished man, for he has put it in his power not to be separated , he has allowed him to return and to be united and to resume his place as a part.           PLAY CHESS

To Lie, or not to Lie?  What is a Matter?

When every man is lying to his wife,

About the shrink  of latest pay-checks?

About the Economy, where he is a God!

And about be a looser in own bed?

How can you live without the saivor-lie?

Among today`s adept practitioners , the lie has long since lost its honest function of misrepresenting reality. Nobody believes anybody, everyone is in the know. Lies are told only to convey to someone that one has no need either of him or his good opinion. The lie, once a liberal means of communication, has today become one of the techniques of insolance enabling each individual to spread around him the glacial atmosphere in whose shelter he can thrive.   PLAY CHESS

There is nothing innocuous left.  The little pleasures, expressions of life that seemed exempt from the responsibility of thought, not only have an element of defiant silliness, of callous refusal to see, but directly serve their diametrical opposite. Even the blossoming tree lies the moment its bloom is seen without  the shadow of terror; even the innocent becomes an excuse for an existance outrageously unlovely, and horror, withstanding it, and in unalleviated consciousness of negativity holding fast to the possibility of what is better.      PLAY CHESS

If reason or conscience is mistaken through a voluntary error, wether the error be directly willed or due to negligance, then since it is an error concerning something that the person ought to know about, that error does not one excuse; on the contrary the will that follows reason or conscience thus mistaken is Bad. But if error is one which causes involuntariness, arising from ignorance of the circumstances with negligance involved , then such an error of reason or conscience does not excuse,  the will which follows that mistaken consciencs is in fact Bad.     PLAY CHESS

A complete victory of society will always produce some sort of " communistic fiction " , whose outstanding political characteristic is  that it is indeed ruled by an 'invisible hand', namely , by nobody. What we traditionally call state and government give place here to pure administration- a state of affairs Marx rightly predicted as the 'withering away of the state', though he was wrong when he believed that this victory of society would mean the eventual emergence of the 'realm of freedom'.    PLAY CHESS

What is a rebel ? A man who says no; but whose refusal does not mean to imply a renunciation. He is also a man who says yes as soon as he begins to think for himself... He rebels because he categorically refuses to submit to conditions that he considers intolerable and also because he is confusedly convinced that his position is justified, or rather, because in his own mind he thinks that he has the right to....Rebellion cannot exist without the feeling that somewhere , in some way, you are justified.    PLAY CHESS
