Ok so, I have been trying to get my bullet ratings back up because i play so much and my rating has suffered. So i only play a couple of games a day now and my ratings are making their way back to where i was before. Then today i run into a very frustrating event. I am about to win another match when out of nowhere my opponent begins to make impossible moves with 3 secs left on his clock in a 2|1 game. The outcome? I lose to this guy and there is nothing i can do! I have screen shots of the first set of impossible moves. Any suggestions?

as you can see i am about to promote my pawn and win when his pawn on f4 inexplicably moves to c4!! you can see the yellow highlighted where he should have moved but the pawn ends up on c4

Looks like a display error rather than a cheat. Check your game archive for the correct record.

the archive has the correct moves but while we were playing his pieces were all over the place as you can see.

Yeah it's just your computer displaying the wrong moves. Nothing to do with your opponent because the server obviously had the correct record. Maybe your cache needs clearing, I'm not sure.

You lost on time.

Just play more games and your rating will go back. That's how the system works.

lost ratings.. if it was a chess.com flaw then they should refund my points lost! if i was cheated they should ban the user... the screen shots speak for themselves

In 20-30 games, this one won't matter as far as your rating goes. Ratings smooth out over time.

Usually this kind of whiney-ass gripe comes from someone who just joined.  But this guy's been here more than 2 years.

look don't get me wrong... i dont mind getting cheated fair and square by some super chess engine that someone paid $100 dollars for. thats what you get when you play some dumb rich brat that has no real friends or hobbies. but when the site i pay a monthly fee to costs me ratings points that i am trying my hardest to get back i start to feel gyped.

It's the complaint about the ratings points that is trivial-- if you play many games, a few points here and there make absolutely no difference.

The problem is that the result of one game impacts lots of players because they get a different rating change based on your rating. It's not as simple as giving your points back. Also they would have to deal with loads of these requests and it would be a resource drain.

Bob, try to earn some money. The envy is not good for you and not good for us.

As for rating points, don't you think you are being a bit obsessive?  Rating goes up and down from day to day. Exactly which opponents you play, whether they are in form or out of form, and whether you are in form or out of form yourself is going to determine your rating in the future not this incident.

Most definitely and they should compensate you by giving you a pony!

I would have prefered a pink unicorn, but I'm afraid chess.com doesn't have the manpower to organize a hunting expedition. Frown
