Both have their ups and downs. Just to give some examples -
Lichess - The Board Editor tool in Lichess and playing from any position is very helpful to me for visualizing positions.
Chess.com - Better and more helpful community and more variants.
Games wise both are equal, the rating systems and "skill based matchmaking" is perfect in both. Chess.com has a slight advantage of faster matchmaking I think due to more active members but I don't think a few seconds make a difference.
(And if anyone is making an argument about free vs paid - I have been gifted a membership once by a friend and in my experience the only worth part of it is infinite reviews, otherwise the free version is just as good)
chess.com is the best because it is gold, platinm, dimond
But you have to PAY for it.
I am top 99%, but my rating is very low here. I can't get a top 99%, but my rating is very high at other site, why? Can somebody explain.
There are less low rated players on lichess.

i am low elo but the experience is the same. i was going to propose a bunch of guesses, but it may be as simple as the fact that you start at 1200 on chess.com, while you start at 1500 on lichess. it could literally just be base values. are you roughly +300 on lichess? (i am)
Here I like the social features and daily tournaments, but lichess has better ui, better puzzles and a better free database.
Tl;dr
Lichess for playing chess. Chess.com for social
Long answer
Take what I have said about Lichess with a grain of salt. I don't have a lichess account but guessing from what i have played as a guest on lichess i think it is better for games. But on the other hand, Chess.com is better for socializing because of the larger playerbase and the various options to interact with other people like forums, clubs, etc. and event/collabs. When I play on Chess.com my computer which is kinda old ( from 2018 ) sounds like a jet engine. But when i play on lichess I have no such issue. I am not going to talk about the ui or the pieces bc different people like different stuff.
Agreed, Lichess is what I usually use for just playing chess. For variants and other similar features, I use chess.com.
Chess.com and Lichess are both popular online chess platforms, but they cater to different needs and preferences. Chess.com is a commercial site with a large player base and a wide range of features, some of which require a paid subscription. Lichess.org is a free, open-source platform that offers a comprehensive set of features without any cost.
But I like lichess😀

Oh I understand but you are wrong. It's Chrome response🤫🤣
I like chess.com more,
Heres why-
Surprisingly, you only need to lose 3 or so games to reach your rating group because Lichess uses the more advanced Glicko-2 rating system.
Also, having everyone start at 1500 makes the rating distributions nicer, with the median consistently at 1500.
There are less things that you can do on lichess. Even on normal mode for chess.com you can do puzzlerush, 1 lesson a week and be able to see grandmasters games live. Chess.com is better
Did you even look at Lichess at all? You can watch top level games live here. You can play Puzzle Storm which is puzzle rush except it deducts time for every wrong puzzle instead of three strikes. The lessons on chess.com are ok but I do like the Sacrifice Series by Keti which I was able to use those videos and put them into a chess study here. All of it is organized and easy to share. For lessons, just watch Chess Coach Andras or Chess Geek. On top of that, Lichess studies are so much better than chess.com. You can use the database to look at Master Games, Lichess games, and any player's games to learn different openings, prepare against certain opponents, and discover common opening traps. Just check out my Semi-Slav study, Queen's Gambit study, and my 1.b3 Refutation. If you want any help with opening prep, feel free to DM with any questions.
Exactly, Lichess showed the Aeroflot Open 2025 games while Chess.com didn't.
LIB (Lichess is better)
