And a little Bump.
Chess for Oldtimers --- Good Idea !
is badenwurtca the same guy as the op
--- My doppelganger old cabadenwurt spends most of his time at the rest-home now. Mind you he does like to play Poker on-line ( only for chips tho lol ).
One item that seems to change as we get older is the idea of " Multi-tasking ". Often I will have something in mind and I'll wander off into another room to do stuff but I seem to have forgotten what I wanted to do next. However did I really forget or was my attention diverted elsewhere instead ? Most times my first idea comes back after a while and then I remember what I wanted to do in the 1st place, a bit odd that lol.

Sometimes I find I end up doing something else I should have done, but then it later occurs to me what my original priority was to begin with.

--- Poor old badcabby is still at the rest-home but he gets to have a Beer now and then ( and today is one of those days so " Roll Out The Barrel " lol ).
I sure miss old cabenwurt and Andy Clifton.
I wonder where they went!?
--- And poor old Andy got tired of the endless BS happening around here and wandered off to greener pastures and I can't say that I blame him either.
Time for a quote: " The object of Life is not to be on the side of the Majority, but rather to escape finding oneself in the ranks of The INSANE ! " We had to go way way back to Marcus Aurelius for that one. Btw that quote certainly applies to the internet and often to this site as well Rofl.

Granted, this site has a whole lot of loose pieces flying around. And granted, the forums aren't exactly the Algonquin Round Table. But I've run across some really bon bon mots here, over the years -- especially when Andy Clifton was around. Ah, where are ya now, Andy, me boy? Andy, we hardly knew ya....
Time for a funny quote, this one goes back to Noel Coward: " I like long walks, especially when they are taken by people who annoy me. " Having been on this planet for a long time I have learned the truth of that statement Rofl.

Many times Ralph I go upstairs to do something or other. Get to top of stairs and have completely forgotten what I came upstairs for. I usually have to go back downstairs before I can remember why I had gone up in the 1st place? I call it Pam having another Senior moment! lol

--- What I've noticed in my case Pam is that during the time while I wander off to get a specific item I'm often thinking about other stuff. So while I'm elsewhere with my mind the original thought that I had gets lost ( re the item that I was to fetch ). That way I can tell myself that I'm not forgetful but I only got side-tracked lol.
YouTube has a variety of interesting content- documentaries, music videos, stand up comedy, etc
even chess videos - opening traps, famous games, etc.
--- Ah yes YouTube is a lot of fun, some very good stuff there.
The other day I bumped into a back issue of Reader's Digest ( Jan 2020 ) and found an interesting article that I wanted to mention here. The title is: " How To Live To 100 And Love It " and the Love It part is something that needs to be investigated bit closer. Anyway I'll quote some of the info as I read thru the article.

Me too, but those ‘detours’ are often worth it.
Thanks a lot for the post Pam. Very sorry for your loss.
