Wrong?  Why do you say that?

Why don't you check your files, maybe someone swindled your sense of humor

No, my sense of humor is fine. I get it now, and that is on the level.  Duh.

My first thought was gambit13 was one of those people that didn't like chess variations and I was just curious as to why he didn't like 3D chess.

I have nothing against 3D chess or any chess variants. I was making a lame joke. I apologise for any offence caused

I can see now why a thread on cool chess players is such a bad idea for this site!

Try Goldfinger.  It's the best one (and excellent).

Better than "From Russia with Love"? Goldfinger just sounds naughtyEmbarassedLaughing

The absolute best movie that had chess in it was The Seventh Seal.

I just saw "The Seventh Seal" recently again, and it's actually an incredibly dull film. Waaaaay overrated! I guess I thought it was good before, because I didn't really see that many good films when I first saw it. But now, I think it's complete crap

Yeah, I'm hardly a fan of (the male) Bergman. Can't trust a guy who (literally every movie he makes) has at least one scene where they're all talking about alienation and despair and angst and all that blarney. It's like listening to a tape loop of "The Dangling Conversation."  One guy's looking off to the side and somebody else is facing away from the camera and they're discussing whether God is even around anymore (and I'm saying to myself, "I think I can see why He left...").

"Winter Light", is my favorite film of his, and "Persona" is great! Alienation, detachment, and loneliness are very much required ideas, that I like cinema to explore. Smile

I hate cinema.  Cars exploding and bodies flying back toward the camera...now that's movies.

Yeah, but you like TV, and what's worse is you're not ashamed of itLaughing

Seventh Seal really does deserve its place as one of the greatest movies ever.

You mean to tell me that the cowardly actor guy who saw visions, didn't get annoying?

OK wait, was he the guy who said that God has forsaken them?

I believe everyone in that movie said thatLaughing He was the little guy that the Knight and his companion come across, who keeps telling his wife that he sees angels and poop. Remember, he goes into a bar, and the patrons make fun of him, making him dance on a table?

Lucky # Slevin
Morgan Freeman, aka "The Boss" (pictured) challenges Slevin (Josh Hartnett) to a game of chess as a chance to pay off a debt. Bruce Willis has a role and also plays against The Boss. We don't see too much, but it's still a nice nod.

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

I just finished watching the movie

"LUCKY NUMBER SLEVEN" on video.

Morgan freeman gives Slevin a chance to increase the time he has to kill the Jewish son by playing him a game of chess. If Sleving beats him he gets a week to do the job, if he loses he still has only three days.

The chess board made of glass large glass pieces and it is hard to distinguishes the pieces they are.

Slevin glancing from across the room says, "If you move that piece you will lose because it will be a mate in four."

Morgan Freeman said, "Slevin. Every one I play lets me win even if they are beating me. I always wins."

Bruce Willis has a large part as he is playing both side of the fence. He plays the Black side agains the White side. Just like Bobby Fischer used to practice playing chess. Both of the kings die and all the pawns pieces protecting their castle are all killed.

The castles are two high rise building directly across from each other. The two kings never left their fortresses in twenty years, until Slevin shows up and eventually make his killing moves.

In the apartment that Slevin ends up going to, a cushion on the couch has a chess board square motif and the whole rear wall has blue and white chess board squares.

Great movie. I had forgotten I had seen this movie.

It is R rated made in 2005, 110 min.

Glad you enjoyed it. I never thought of Bruce playing BOTH sides of the board. Nice detail

No problem. It drifted somewhat from chess, but that's cool.

it is a cool set - hyper modern or something. I don't think I would play well on it. I like my pieces to be easily distinguishable.

I remember "The Bone Collector" with paraplegic Denzel Washington playing chess against his SFish talking computer, as the killer arrives and points out to him: "Game of chess! I win, you lose" or something like that.
