I just come here to add that, objectively speaking. Chess do have a little detail that makes the whole game completely pointless and stupid.
So much that even in Master games, most players just surrender reaching this point, and that is the "promotion" stage.
No matter how good you are. Any one can simply focus on sacrificing mindlessly all the pieces, looking for a final pawn advantage (which it's almost never the case ) and ending up forcing you to also play the "promotion" game.
And for all the super smart people who will say some thing genius like "it's easy to beat that "
It's not the point . The point is that you are forced to play the same way (cuz as I said, they just mindlessly eat your pieces, leaving only pawns in the game )
And most players do that cuz is "easy". And it's annoying cuz game over game, over and over again. Everything becomes a "promotion game ".
And it's stupid, cuz makes the whole game dumb, repetitive and boring. Just because a single stupid rule.
A/w that's my opinion. Promotion mostly make chess a stupid game.

I like how it's completely visible the 2+2 brain capacity of most of you: "then why play it"? Danm reasoning, why discussing the point when you can just divert and stop thinking
If you must know, I play it to sleep. Literally I play it until I fell sleep.
But you actually like the game, why wouldn't you like it to be better? Oh right. On 2 bits brains something old it's perfect and immovable.
And so, we should not discuss if it has any flaw that it can be improved, that would be blasphemy! Right? (Forgetting the fact that chess actually change a lot continuously).
