is trump an elitist
Chess should be an elitist game

The most disgusting thing found here is the idea that "we" includes people who believe they are superior to others simply because they are intellectually superior. These ideas come from a day and age where kings and emperors found themselves on top of the world with no checks or balances to keep them in place.

I completely agree. I've been playing chess for a while, and though I'm not a serious player, I still enjoy playing longer time controls, (at least across the board with friends) and still manage to find enjoyment in short time controls. I love watching both blitz/bullet games, to see how GM's are able to think quickly and accurately, (one reason Hikaru is a favorite player of mine) and watching/analyzing classical games, to see how the top players use tactics and strategy to win the game. To me, chess is a game for everyone, from the lowest to highest ELO. Whether or not you are good is irrelevant, so long as everyone finds the same enjoyment in playing the game.

Bit of a daft O.P. At any level, chess is capable of being good mental exercise. So the O.P. is saying that nobody who can't run a mile in four minutes or sprint a hundred metres in ten seconds should complete in any sports.

...disagree. Chess is a game for everyone. I've met some very strong homeless players and prisoners for instance.
Also, unless someone is 2000+OTB, I don't really think it makes much sense for them to be talking about elitism

OP was totally joking with his post. This whole thread was tongue-in-cheek from the OP's end
For chess to become an elitist game, it should be played inside an exclusive mens club, golf club, yacht club or the best place, the Playboy Mansion 😎. Chess pieces should be made from ivory and other semi precious materials. Chess clocks should be ordered from Rolex 😎
