Chess Tales: playing with the (D)Evil

Anybody knows any chess tale about someone playing a game with the devil? I'm looking for some Edgar A. Poe kind of tale (gothic)...

But I allready know that movie . I'm looking for a chess talle I read when I was a kid, but cannot remember mutch about it. It's about a chessplayer that was walking in a city, in the night, and found some stranger in a bridge, someone that thells him that he only can pass if he wins a chess game, or something like. As the game was played, the moves played by the stranger where all "wicked" somewhay, denouncing the true nature of the player. I can't remember more than this, and was hopping someone knows about it.
