Fide world championship 2023.

Ian won today. It’s one thing for chess.com to ban flags from a certain country as a political statement. Chess.com is a private company and is free to do as they please. I neither agree nor disagree with it. FIDE on the other hand is different. Ian isn’t playing with his nation’s flag. I’m also not saying it’s right or wrong, but simply asking; what good does it do? Does it change anything? Does it help the invaded nation? Does it hurt the invading nation?
Is this a FIDE decision, or is it something Nepo himself wanted to do?
Not trying to be political or controversial just wondering if it was FIDE or Nepo that decided to not use the flag of his native land in the WC?

Do you know search engines ? ^_^
Russia and Belarus teams suspended from FIDE competitions

Thanks, I had read the chess.com link but not the FIDE link. Now I have and now I know, so thank you providing it.

Also, I think they have a lounge/living room type area where they can sit away from the board whenever they want.

In the last WC, I recall Nepo saying that he liked the player's lounge because it had a television screen showing the current position in 2d format.
He said he preferred to calculate by looking at the board that way, rather than OTB.
I'm guessing the current lounge (for each player) has a similar screen display.
More comfortable chairs + a screen showing the current position + nobody staring at you.

Here's a camera view of inside the player's lounge, from Game 4. Nepo is looking at the graphical display of the current board position.
