who do you think will win i think it will be ding

I think Gukesh will win as the calmer person, and by +4=8-1, although there is always some possibility for Ding to snap out of his slump with good support and wise decision making in handling his depression in a relevant manner.

What if the two infinitely draw?

It goes to Tie Breaks then:

  • Four-game rapid playoff with a 25+10 time control
  • Two-game playoff with a 5+3 time control
  • Another two-game playoff with a 5+3 time control.
  • 3+2 individual games until there's a winner.

They could infinitely tie because after 7-7 in classical, they could go 2-2 in rapid and 1-1 in both 5+3 blitz tiebreakers. Then they draw all 3+2 games. Then it’s just always a tie. FIDE should add Armageddon or Chess Boxing ♟️🥊.

That’s my point.

But they could go 2-2 in rapid, 1-1 in both 5+3 tiebreakers, and draw the remaining 3+2games

That is theoretically possible, I don't think it'll happen in practice however.

Yeah

There already was a match that was drawn and finally suspended to protect the health of the participants.

Avatar of yguo2014

Yeah. 1984 world championships. The format was first to 6 wins, it was abandoned because it took too long without a winner.

Avatar of Senior-Lazarus_Long

I'm sure an Armageddon deciding game was proposed, but the 2 players may have wanted an equal chance in every game, even if it meant they might have to play longer match. This has got to be the biggest purse either one has ever had.

easy win for Gukesh
