In response to the OP, look for a "strong player" at your OTB tournaments. Try to find a master or someone strong enough to score at least 80% against you at your best. If you are lucky enough to find a coach with years of experience, they will be able to tell you how you are doing. Two or three performances should be sufficient to determine where you are headed.

About these "opening recommendations," if you are not [a certain rating that varies from coach to coach, but is generally accepted to be just under master level], trying to do openings is not the best way to go. You will develop habits regarding memorization of moves and lack the foundation required to improve to master level or higher. This pattern will leave you near your current rating until you stop focusing on openings and start with [either tactics, positional play, guess the move exercises, or another method recommended by a coach].

Unless you are already a professional coach or have extensive chess experience, please refrain from advising players below [the rating ranges usually are 1600 to 2100 uscf/fide, depending on the player's level of chess understanding] of focusing on openings. You will be doing them a disservice and further help will be ineffective.

I don't like to study openings a LOT.I am just trying to understand the structures which suits me the best.I'm a positional player and practise tactics on/offline everyday.

I don't have enough friends. The players higher rated here have a BIG EGO.So, it's not so easy to make them friends.Even if we are friends, they don't tell their so called SECRETS with us(the lower-rated ones). But,I really appreciate your advice.

Try not to memorise all your openings, practice only 2-3 openings from black as well as from white. At least this is what I do. One cannot remember all the openings move and its theory even WC champ. And for improving..... Try getting a coach and if u can't then play more and more in OTB tourneys, local tourneys. This is what I have done and really improved. This gains you that valuable experience. And of course, if u get overconfident defeating players much high rtd, once in a while, play some lower rtd player so that u can come back on track.....

And for books, I do have couple of books of GM's which play my type of openings and often see the positions which I usually face in OTB's. This gets u an idea abt the position and your strategy! Good luck

Thanx :)

Online coaching is available. It can be reasonably priced. Try that.

Books and OTB long games plus long games on here. These 3 things have increased my ability to nearly the master level.
