I understand the frustration, but I think it's a case of making most problems way too easy so they have to penalize you a lot to keep you from advancing too fast to a rating not consistent with your abilities. I get 84%, more than 5 out of 6, of my tactics problems here right and don't progress much. I get 65%, less than 2 out of 3, right at chesstempo.com and also don't progress much - but there you can understand why because the problems are harder: I'm 1650 here and 1701 there.
Tactics trainer is so trash

Be thankful that TT here gives you plenty of repeat problems, along with letting you abort tactics you don't like, to overinflate that rating.

On ChessTempo, it's easy to get a middle level rating, but it's hard to get 2200+.
Overall, ChessTempo doesn't have the massive rating inflation that TT has.
Okay I went over to chess tempo and started doing tactics-you're right, they're way harder than chess.com tactics.

Both tactic trainer rating are comparable! I had 2300+ in chess.com tactics and 2200+ in lichess on my max rating. In chess.com, 2000 rated puzzle is too easy compared to lichess but you have very limited time to calculate correctly and the system give you very few points for correct answer if u take a few extra minutes. On lichess you have unlimited time but even 1800 rated puzzle is more difficult than 2000 on chess.com, so you get less points for correct answer as well. Regarding penalty for wrong calculation , they reduce your points more or less the same. So overall, the tactic trainer rating is more or less the same.

I got a +14 today for the first time. Highest I've gotten in a long time is +11. Maybe changes are being made

around noon pst today
i've gotten a +20 and -15's
cant tell if its better or not but my rating fluctuations at least dont look like some poor fella's ekg during a heart attack

I just thought of that, daxypoo so I edited my post. Someone from staff posted something the other day about improvements

Point system is strange, but the quality of Puzzles is the bigger question!
And Chess Tempo's puzzles are good though.

Chess.com tactics are basically either some clever tricks, or tough endgame studies.
ChessTempo.com has some of the most ridiculously hard "tactics" you can imagine. Some of the Standard tactics are so difficult they're more like speculative sacrifices that win by force, but are impossible to calculate.

i like the smoothness of chess.com's tactics trainer and the most recent changes (5/15) seem to have smoothed out the frustrations i started having with the recent (april 2017) changes
i think both sites complement each other now nicely
hi, my rating of 1800 has shot up to about 2040 in a matter of about a week. i haven't got better, and many of the problems are easier. it's annoying as i now have no idea of my progress over the last 7 years. i would have been happy for chess.com to keep things as they were.

it is very frustrating - I think they base the time limit on the average completion - but this isnt relevant to the individuals current rating - so yeah a 2500 TT rated player can get a 1400 level problem in less than 10 seconds - as a 1500 rated player it takes longs - so you solve the puzzle and get 1 point - then you fail the next puzzle at the same level and get - 11 ?? I have serioulsy had a number of occasions where i ve done 10 puzzles in a row correct then get two wrong and end up with less than I started! This in itself is enough to put me in a bad mood so that i have to quit doing tactics for the day because then i get maybe the next few wrong as I am trying to rush to get the points and before you know it your down 100 points and then when you get one right it give you +2 points - so it take a lot of tactics to get back up - I both love it but hate it with a passion
Poor idiot you.
