Getting Better?

Does anyone have any resources to get better at chess? Not just watching hikaru or magnus on yt. Like something someone wouldnt think of on the regular.

I'd say the best way to learn is to look at your own mistakes. Analyse your games, try to understand the reason behind why a move led to a worser position. Look at the suggestions of better moves offered by the analysis itself. What I personally do, I memorise the patterns of my mistakes and try to recognise them when games build up to similar positions.

From experience and an over 1700 FIDE rating I would say this for a daily routine: 1. Watch a lesson 2. Do 10-15 puzzles and then 2-4 Rapid games. It has helped me gain more than 1000 points in just 2 years. And you may also ask, why only 2-4 games? It’s because when you play less games you are way more locked in than let’s say when you play 20 games. Let’s go 😎 keep up the grind!

No secret pill. Just eat your vegetables and practice.

I would never have improved (back in the 1970‘s) without analysing openings on my own (start with 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 f6? 3.Nxe5), playing (OTB) with stronger opponent (and thereby stretching) and reading chess books (way better than almost all yt).
