Who do you think is better?Hikaru Namakura or Magnus Carlsen?

Better at what?

I personally like Carlsen a bit better as an overall chess player - elegant, yet simple playing style, stands out amongst many super-GMs, and Nakamura better as an entertainer - great 1+0 bullet, funny trash-talk and rage quits.

One of the best players in the world reduced to a mere entertainment in bullet chess. Poor Naka cry.png

Well, I was just being relative - comparison based!

I don't think he's ever played in a candidates tournament, which is surprising considering how long he's been near the top.

He has played in the 2016 Candidates Tournament if my memory is correct

Well then your question is kinda weird. How would you know if one or the other is better?

So far Magnus is ranked higher and has better ELO, so the logical answer would be him.

However to really find out, they would need to make a match of certain numbers of games, and there we would have the answer. How do you want us to know now who is better, one or the other?

and ofc they carlsen and Nakamura have played each other in bullet/blitz/standard quite a few times and nearly always the same guy wins...

so ...

we're (I'm ) not going  to connect the dots for ya kid.  go google them if you want to find out who wins and who does not.

Avatar of thegreat_patzer

actually you asked a stupendously similar question just a couple days ago...

I feel snookered.

i'm thinking you just like to get people to talk to you.

I learned chess as an adult. I sometimes wonder if I'd be any good had I learned chess as a child with the same desire to improve I have now.  I envy you,1400136896. You could be the next super GM. Good luck man

What?

Avatar of ed1975

It means I have the same experience (or roughly in this case) as slow_pawn. I actually learned the rules as a child but hardly ever played. I only got serious as an adult.

Nakamura is a way better investor than Carlsen.

yeah, NYC is the largest "chess" city in the U.S. by far, I know a few people that moved out of there and the first thing that happens when they play OTB elsewhere in the U.S. is that their rating goes up 100-200 points!

The one and only tournament I played in new York seemed, in my opinion, to be easier than most other tournaments I have played, mainly in the dc area, but also around the country, for instance Philadelphia, the world open.
