Guess what I learned by setting the Tactics Trainer

From 1600 to 1800.

Okay, are we supposed to actually guess?  Or just say "What"?

LastImpression

You learned that the Tactics Trainer is now set to 1800, as opposed to 1600 before you changed it.

AndyClifton

Oh, I was gonna say that!

xtophr1

I went through all of the settings and didn't see anything noteworthy.

The suspense is killing me...

adamplenty

You learned how to be a 1800-rated tactician?

Conflagration_Planet

That I haven't improved at all.

Vivinski

How can you set the rating?? can't see it under settings

You have to do them unrated to do it. Then just go into settings, and put numbers in the rating range thing.

fissionfowl

Worth the wait.

Conflagration_Planet

Thanks.

Shivsky

I'm glad we all learned something here.

Not significantly. I just set it to from 1400 to 1500, and see if I ever get them all right.

I've been using T.T. much more recently to try to improve my tactical skills (I also have it set to unrated).

One thing I've found is that there's not much correlation between the difficulty of some problems & their rating ! I've come across near-impossible problems rated under 1700 & others over 2000 which are relatively straightforward - sometimes there's no rhyme or reason !

Also, did you know the rating of a particular problem may change over time ?  If you read the comments attached to the problem, people often give the current rating & they can vary by a large amount over the years.

So I've stopped bothering about the rating of the problems & I try to solve every one it throws at me but can't it make you feel stupid at times ?   Laughing

I've observed all you say, and agree.
