How do you become a IM or Grandmaster?

I have being wondering in how do you become a IM or Grandmaster. Anyone knows?

basically

1. Get money

2. Travel to big tourneys

3. Beat up some old guys

4. Make sure you win them all

5. repeat three or more times

Ah ok. Its like you need to be Really good at chess and have money  

if you wanna get gm yes lol, but if you aren't in the us then you don't really need to travel that much

1. Get a Fide account(go to it's website and register)

2. Play in tournaments -- you'll get a rating

3. Get good at chess(of course, you need to be good at chess to be a master )

4. Once you get a decent rating(2200-2300ish) play in IM Norm Events to get IM.

5. Once you get a certain amount of norms, you'll be an IM

6. Same steps for GM

Well you need to work very hard everyday like 5-9 hours

Or maybe at least 1 or 2 hours

You don't need to win all of the games.

No pressure. 90% of the titled players are Grown ups.
