How do you move to strategy from tactics?

Drugs are illegal armhow because they have not gone thru trials.

I prefer to get there by reasoning which is demonstrable to others and also smashes any delusions that all humans are capable of.

'If we say we are without sin, we decive ourselves and the Truth is not in us'

This capacity for man for self-deceipt is for tricky that

1. the scientific method was constructed to minimise it.

2. the second tool is peer review.

Peer review means that important discoveries eg like you took drugs and discovered that there is God,  can be studied by others to check for errors.

It is surely unwise to throw away Galileo's First Maxim:

observe THEN hypothesise?

However I know that profound experiences can be got from human mental states.

It is very hard to recintruct chemical induced states...even from legal alcohol...by thought.

It may be impossible.

So I prefered to reach altered states by fasting, sleep depreivation and other techniques. I can flip in and out in momnets at will with no permanent effects eg no new neural pathway only accessible by more chemicals. I chose this way to be within the law but also because I knew if my brain had evoked them, it had to be more likely I'd be able to get back from them.

Revelations in the Bible deals with altered states of consciousness, and a debate ensues about whether St. John was using drugs or not to achieve them when he was presumably exiled on Patnos?

Many great works and discoveries are made on chemicals: the Egyptian empire existed on blue lotis, and western civilsation generally on red wine, nicotine, cofee, tea, chocolate etc etc.

Classified drugs are deemed illegal because they have unusal long term side effects like depression and psyhosis, but there are of course many which are legal, I am sure you are talking about.

My own preference is to live as cleanly & morally as I can without being a control freak, which is hard enough.

Mohammed may have done drugs in his cave, as may Moses who was trained in magic as an Egyptian proce/priest.

I have found that self-created states are more manageable.

However practicing a relgion does indeed placate the mind once such states are activated.

Other than that because your most profound states are yours alone, sujbective and free of extraneousness, I can offer little comment other than I hope they improved your chess!Undecided

I never want to be subject (which is impossible as Nature is vast) and accept that I am absolutely determined.

I hope you get another run of 10 victories!

Mental masterbation goes a long way too.

You two guys are a match made in heaven!

You knock yourselves out posting, fasting, and wearing towels.  Laughing

We are engaged in a battle. Every time I hit it - it keeps coming back.

Beware of a 33 piece chess set, for one of the pieces is an illusion: but which one?

well, hi again zborg and thanks again to your compliment whatever it maybe. I am just trying to prove a real perspective that could lead us to the truth. I admire Hluek in his belief system and principles. Hluek got wisdom and for sure he's been in his cross roads just like me. Sharing this kind of stuff is beneficial like what Hluek said we are all sinners but there are remedies to all these that could change our lives to a better and abundant one. I am trying to reach and grasp this and it is my objective to share it to others with love and respect. I hope I will reach the point where I will attain the absolute resolution in attaining goodness and abundance of life and break the cobwebs in attaining it. Life is exciting, getting the right answers is what we are here for to explore. Let us enjoy it in this stage and for eternity.

I didn't say we are all sinners I was aluding to the Catholic catecism...i believe we are all criminals, and only by purging by authorities we delegate power to are we brought back to non-criminal actions.

if we are smart we purge ouirsleves and religious people dothis by prioayers and moral affiemations and also contrition/confession and penance.

The law does simi;ar things by making the cuaght criminals do penance as fines, prisons where you can reflct on your selfish ways of crime, and  do ing good works like comunity service.

But it is true that the law is based on elgion. However relgion is a group or popular basics ethics.

the philopsher (freind of wisdom) aims at morality becausehe reasons correctly morality is the group laws of group survival.

Looking after your body and life are moral codes to your own self.: you can therefroe comitt crime agsinst your self by overeating etc or sinning against yourself which is just another name for it.

Sin comes from the City State of Ur (wiki) and was worshipped as a goddess of the moon.

What matters in extreme chess is self mastery:

From Sun Tzu...know yourself and you will win 1/2 your battles: know your enemy as well and you will win 100% of them.

So improving in chess means improving self-knowwldge, the key to self mastery.

Right Zun Tsu statement of knowing yourself and your adversary will help you gain victory in all encounters.  But in chess, it is quite difficult to know your opponent especially when you randomly encounter different styles with different ratings. But if you got solid fundamentals, tactics, principles and keen in finding your opponent's weaknesses then surely you will a champion.

hleuk2

Good theory!

Maybe you know your opponent by the moves he makes.

armhow

yep it can be but sometimes it is deceiving and you end up a loser. Lower rank players seems easy to win but often times you will be surprise when you end up the loser instead. so I guess your games are dependent on your season.

armhow

hi Hluek, have you experienced playing chess too much that you tend to make blunders in you mid and end games.  This I call chess stress.  It is so funny when you tend to observe errors of your yesterdays games. You check your opponents king without any support leading to loss. This must be chess fatigue or your mind tells you to do a tactical manuever that you tend to move ahead of your plan.  This lead to blunder on your part. This is a disease in chess.  I believe everyone who are a chess addict experienced this.

hleuk2

Most helpful armhow thankyou. I'm trying yto practice a particular open attack: the fact I do it thousands of times can mean addicted something else!

But I'll consider what you said.

You shoud ask him about it armhow! Soon!

It ois not possible to out-tactic a good player:

The problem is any of you could make a mistake. Watching Mikhail Tal games is just so amusing.  He does not care whether he will loose all of his minor and major peices as long as he will mate your king. Tal games are really exciting. His killer move often times caught his adversary unaware. He must have read Zun Tsu principles in attacking. You can sense magic and brilliance in most of his games. He truly deserves to be an icon in the world of chess. He even beat bobby fischer with such a spectacular game.

hleuk2

THanks I'll try and see his games armhow

Oh I see.

Amazing opening and looks like he's not brilliant until winning

Good generals dont show any taloent until the clinche victory, best to make it look likie a fluke.

I'm examining the trade off between pieces and position which I think important.

MT aims early at an end game In the games I've seen now.

Some generals were never beaten, and the skill to withdraw ehen you're emotions want you to go forward is necesaey.

Good players seem to have intense calm.

Yes you make no mistakes. That might be ok simplistically and even shrt tactically, but strategicaly I doubt oit could ever bee continuously.

In war decpetion is the essence, and that can often mean surprize. That was the highest tactic in Nato strategies.

Dday the Germans expected a second or throd army many weeks after the main one.

Do think there will be wars in space with aliens?

This would be exciting.  We will teach them how to play chess and probably beat them to death. Tal is an attacking maniac, often times his moves are unorthodox which make it famous.  Watch Mato Jelic videos on Tal games, it's quite entertaining.

hleuk2

Exciting! You obviously haven't been in a war.

Thanks for the vid.

My aim is self-mastery.
