How much time do you spend per move in Daily Chess?

How much time do you spend per move in Daily Chess? Usually, I will quickly go through my many ongoing daily games and spend about 10 seconds making a move. If a position requires more thought, I will take a couple of minutes. But I never take more than 3 minutes thinking in a daily game, even though I technically have days to make a move. Is this normal? Do most people spend minutes-hours on one move?

The site tells me my average is 52 minutes.

To make a move. But not to think about it

Well i didn’t think was what you originally asked. But building in your move vs. think criteria, i say 12-15 minutes is normal time to make a decision on what my next move might be. Right or wrong.

That's what my question meant. You can know by looking at my stats or looking at the short move I stated (10 seconds).

For me the whole reason to play daily is to have time to calculate moves, if needed.

Most moves are 5-20 second decisions, some of them take a minute. But when I'm in a tricky spot with many pieces attacking each other and all pieces are defending each other in an complex way, especially with both players posing mate threats, then I gladly spend 3-10 minutes going over all scenarios. The self-analysis tool is especially useful so you don't forget the mate threat you spotted 16 hours before.

Though, when I'm busy with daily life, and I have 10 daily chess game notifications begging for my attention, I most often just crank moves out in a few seconds a move. But still, why play daily if you're blitzing out moves anyway?

I take my time, although I have finished several games in one day, I try to move slow and try to analyze the board, the pieces and more important the position as much as I can. It has helped me tremendously. I try to never be in a hurry when it comes to daily chess, there is no need for it!

Do you realize that literally EVERYONE who posted before you has a higher rating than you?

Anyways, most moves probably around 5 - 10 seconds (like in 10|0 rapid) but in more complex positions, I could spend up to 10 minutes on a move (seeing if I can force mate, prevent mate, etc).

jah2007

at most probably about 2 seconds per move

Sometimes I use the conditional move thing i.e. similar to premoving in live chess mostly I take a day or 2....
