How often does your internet chess get interrupted by people distracting you ?

I would like to know if the rest of you players have as much trouble playing an uninterrupted game of chess on the internet as I do. I usually play 15/10 rapid chess and frequently during the game someone will walk in the room and start talking to me or someone will call on the phone where I will practically have to answer it and talk. They will ring the doorbell. etc. Many times I'm in a winning position but then I get distracted by them and lose.

Misery loves company and I would like to be assured that the rest of you are suffering as much as me. If you never get interrupted while playing chess then life is discriminating against me. And that isn't fair. It will just have to be a burden I carry for the rest of my chess existence.

Here I always thought it was - "Missouri loves company." Being a reclusive type I never go there and I still get interrupted.

You decide whether or not to answer your phone during your game.

It happens

It's interesting how these questions go unanswered for like a year and a half then someone finds them out of the blue and then the answers pour in.

I've done that. It happens when we try to find the first forum in chess.com by flippin' a hundred pages back and some forum title catches our attention.

I always get interrupted by a phone call or a text when I try that.

depends on peoples lives i guess. If u live alone then not many distractions, and vice versa. I think distractions are nice, so  u dont get consumed into the computer too much and forget about ur life.

Me having my roof replaced, reaching the climax of a bullet game, builder walks in and presents me with an invoice for £3500.

Never. Even now I have a baby, me and my wife give each other 1 hour undisturbed time a day. She goes for a walk, I play Chess.

Did you at least win?

I'm afraid not. It was a bullet. They did an excellent job on my roof though!

I went through it on a train once, about 30 years ago. And I have some kind of great uncle who is a professor of psychology in Kansas, presumably specialising in flat affect.

I see few of the answers mentioned being married.

It’s a little known fact that Beethoven would have written way more music if he wasn’t married.

And that he was glad when he went deaf 😀
