I am gay so are there any other gay chess players like me?

No one has to necessarily "care" in order for a group of people with a common identity and interest to find each other and/or to formulate a group based on said commonality. Can we simply do this without having people comment on why it's made a big deal? (Since we gay people are not the ones making it a deal to begin with.)

As far as gay people playing chess differently, I mentioned early that scientific research in fact points to the different ways in which "gay" and "straight" brains function. It is known that gay men and heterosexual women play chess differently than heterosexual men do. (I haven't read any research on lesbians, so I leave them out for now.) And, we have separate tournaments and official FIDE ratings for women, do we not? A kind of "gal" club, if you will. Considering this, I personally wouldn't necessarily be opposed to the idea of gay men, indeed, having a separate official rating. Not kidding. Not trolling. No funny business.

As far as the OP goes, I'm guessing he might have been a troll. At least that's what multiple people who have been acquainted with him on chess.com are saying. However, many people who were actually looking for other LGBT chess players (that's how I found this thread myself!) do find comfort in a thread that also looks for like LGBT persons.

Surveys on sexual orientation typically result in estimates that are too low since many gay/lesbian people are not out of the closet and will not answer a survey honestly.  Moreover, the actual percentage would depend on your definition of gay.  Is it only those who have exclusively same sex relationships?  Is it limited to those who self-identify as gay but have had sexual relationship with the opposite sex in the past?  Does it include those who have engaged in gay sex but still consider themselves to be "straight"?  Does it include anyone who has ever had a gay fantasy or gotten sexually stimulated by images of someone of the same sex?  If the definition is a broad one, then the percentage likely is close to 10%.  Admittedly, the Kinsey statistics are skewed because of the methodology used, but the premise that there are more gay people than popularly beleived/estimated is likely true.

MorraMeister, I would gladly respond to your post in a rational manner. On the other hand, since your thought on this is obviously very emotions-base, which ultimately lead you into the temptation of using strawman***  and false-cause analogies, I'm not going to invest any more time at this time to discuss this with you.

ooops ! ty for San Francisco real chess club picture, i apologize because I wanted just to remember good ole times i got as a Tourist in Frisco 72, good songs from people I founded funny (Village people) and good musicians, ...and I didn't even know they were gay / homos or heteros, nobody cared listening YMCA for instance.
