i just do
I hate the King's Indian Defense and I'm stuck with it
you play something better 😎
It is so annoying to play as black. White has more space, better pieces, and a better center. What does black have? A kingside attack that works 0.1% of the time and bad pieces. Oh, i forgot to mention the mediocre space. I have a big tournament coming up on May 1st, so I can't switch openings. Seriously, how do you play it as black?

uhhh hold on a sec im going to put a pgn with every variation
the yt videos don't go in depth or only do specific moves that aren't my type

I recommend changing openings to another solid choice if you don't like the type of positions. If you think it is too late to change due to the May 1st event, then learn to work in the thematic ...f5 pawn break and don't be afraid to get into sharp pawn storms if they come up on the Kingside.
If White has the center closed with the space advantage from pawns on c4, d5, e4, then try striking to break up the center with ideas like ...c6 or using the Queenside created outposts (in many cases they can be created) like the c5 square for a piece in many lines.

If I play c6, and takes takes, wouldn't the backwards d pawn which black has be really weak?
Ne1 is mainline, not b4, after ...f5 black is doing better.
Yeah I put the line for Ne1.

Usually no. And backwards d pawn is usually part of the KID whether you want it to be or not.

tHeN dOnT pLaY iT!!

As another has said, watch videos Part of being able to play the King's Indian is understanding the purpose of each move.
In a Fianchetto Setup, which is slower, after 1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 g6 3.g3 Bg7 4.Bg2 O-O 5.Nf3 d6 6.O-O, the move 6...c6 is ok and an actual line, intending 7...Qa5. Here, 6...c6 plays the role of opening up the Queen and trying to plug up the long diagonal on White.
Instead, Black should play 6...e5, 6...c5, 6...Bg4, or 6...Na6. The first is the main line. The other 3 are sidelines

Eugene Perelshtein has some good vids on dark square strategy for ur opening. Easy to understand the ideas. Just get thru this event with the KID and study something else before ur next one. U waited way too close to May 1 but there will be time after.

When do you play c6? The opening explorer says to try to rush the knight to c5 and play f5.
