while playing a tournament todayi noticed that one of my opponents had a globe instead of a national flag can any one explain this to me are they a "international" team player ?

YES GET IT NOW , Korchnoi was stateless after leaving Russia so had no flag , and having searched i have found the Korchnoi team who use the globe as thier symbal.
