It is not a sport-it is a game and there is nothing wrong with chess being called a game. I never see pokers players calling poker a sport lol

If it's not a sport, then why are you expected to participate with good SPORTsmanship?

And how about the man who Alekhine threw his king at? ha ha

Didn't he once complain out loud that he was upset because he 'had to lose to a fool'?

I'd love to see Carlsen overturn a chess table after losing a game.

Ah,right.

I remember when I first read My System I thought to myself, "I bet this guy was a real jerk.". Don't know for sure if it is true, but I have read some things about him that lead me to believe this may be true.

"Part Art, part Science, part Sport."  (quote from Lessons with a GrandMaster, (2011), by Gulko and Sneed.)

Played by thoroughly eccentric folks, especially those at high levels, (and low levels too).

Subject of interminable discussion threads on art, science, and sport.

So, Welcome to the Club....Smile

Yeah, I don't think most people really are that romantic about it. They may rattle off these things because it adds a mystic to the game. But, in the end, it really is nothing more than a board game.

Chess is unfortunately recognized as a sport by the International Olympic Committee.

All those skinny little kids who beat the dumb jocks (at chess) want it to be a sport.

Let them have it, I say.  Good for everyone's soul.

I assume that is a joke, but I'm not sure.

Kasparaov recently referred to chess as a sport in a letter he wrote before the 2014 WCC. I'm sorry, but I disagree with Kasparov. It's a really great game as far as I am concerned.

Is poker a sport? The World Series of Poker (WSOP)?
