It is not a sport-it is a game and there is nothing wrong with chess being called a game. I never see pokers players calling poker a sport lol

Yeah, I don't think most people really are that romantic about it. They may rattle off these things because it adds a mystic to the game. But, in the end, it really is nothing more than a board game.
Chess is unfortunately recognized as a sport by the International Olympic Committee.
All those skinny little kids who beat the dumb jocks (at chess) want it to be a sport.
Let them have it, I say. Good for everyone's soul.

Kasparaov recently referred to chess as a sport in a letter he wrote before the 2014 WCC. I'm sorry, but I disagree with Kasparov. It's a really great game as far as I am concerned.
