Chess is most complicated game . It has 6 characters with different material value and unique concepts of checkmate, pawn promotion, en passant, etc.
Is go more complicated to learn then chess?

I've dabbled with Go, and it is so frighteningly deep. Chess is more relatable (I'm just a sub 1200).

How long to learn the basics? Example 400 eilo chess equivalent?

There's not enough programmers interested in Go . Chess programming existed for decades before they finally beat the World Champion.
Go is a very interesting game.
The basic rules are not that complicated. If you can learn the rules to play chess, i'm pretty sure you can learn it as well.
To play it well, it requires as much effort as chess. You will need to study Go theory, study the classics (As chess, Go also had great masters and great games), and analyse your own games.
Making it simple, if you want to get strong at any of them, you will have to put an effort on it.
Just curious how hard is go to learn?
