Ummm, actually, your rating rise is nothing out of the ordinary.

The difference between 800 and 1100 is the difference between a noob that throws pieces up in the air and a noob that is more consistent and no longer does that sort of thing.

The difference between 2500 and 2700 is massive.

Then how come they draw most of the time?

Umm..okay. Congrats on your rating increase, however, it is, in fact much harder for a grandmaster to increase him rating than it is for you to increase yours. For you, you just started and still have yet for your rating to peak (you still have points to gain before you hit your peak and have to start learning new things) a grandmaster on the other hand has already peaked and is striving to improve his current rating. Since most top grandmasters are of equal strength, grandmasters must prepare special variations for their opponent to try to win and stuff like that. Next, you are wondering if your rating increase was great, I will just compare this to someone I know (a 10 year old girl) whose rating went from 700 to 1200 within practically 5 months of playing. This DOES NOT mean that she will be the next José Capablanca, this just means that she I still trying to peak her rating before she goes on to learn new concepts using book and stuff. Have a happy Halloween!

Recently, I have experienced an incredible jump in my blitz rating.

I was rated 782 on December 5th, and today I am rated 1075. That is a rating increase of 293 points.

I was so impressed with this achievement that I began to analyze how impressive it is. I was of the opinion that my increase from 782 to 1075 (293 points), is equally as impressive as a GM going from 2500 to 2793 (Also 293 points). But then I got thinking, my rating jump is arguably more impressive since I am a beginner. It is easier for a GM to improve because he is already an expert.

How impressive is my rating jump in reality, and how does it compare to a GM jumping in rating by the same amount?

Thank you for your input in advance.

I increased like 300 since last month that's pretty good no!?

Gaining points starting from begginer level? ...Pretty easy man

I take offence to this comment.  I understand that there may have been a degree of naivety when I first presented this topic, however, it was an attempt to learn where I stood in terms of my progression.  I found it discouraging, especially to newer players, that when they present their ideas or questions they are lynched and mobbed by self-proclaimed "troll spotters" who have nothing else to do but mock the achievements of others.
