Ive lost every game in a tournament

This was my first chess tournament, and my rating in online chess is 100 to 150, so i was rated as unrated. My first game was aganst a strong 400, and i got absolotly crushed. I lost in less than 10-15 moves i think? But it was fine and later the second round out of 4 rounds started. My coach said that my opponent will be easier because i lost the last game and he was right! The problem was he was still much better than me. He was also unrated but he still crushed me as i blundered my queen and knight that game. I also got the 3rd game to an unrated like me, and in the final game me and my parents thought i could beat the last guy with a rating of 106, but he mated me the fastest. I showed my coach later and he said it was the "wayward queen trick" and told me to study it. Later i played my coach, an IM with 2 GM norms and i lost. Anyways my parents thought i could win the tournament and get moved to the higher sections because the thought i was an expert. Now they are dissapointed in me and i am ashamed of myself. Can someone help me out here, thx.

Many people have had the same experience. You can either quit chess or decide that you will resolve to figure out what you did wrong and learn from it.

You can only lose to the wayward queen so many times before you notice a pattern to your opponents play. You can respond the same way every time or try to figure out something better.

"This was my first chess tournament" ++ Then losing all games is usual.

"The problem was he was still much better than me." ++ No, the problem was you blundered.

"i blundered my queen and knight" ++ Always check your intended move is no blunder before you play it. Think about your move. Consider 3 candidate moves. Decide. Do not play it. Imagine it played and check it is no blunder: does not hang any piece or pawn, does not run into checkmate. Only then play it.

"told me to study it" ++ Do not study that, think over the board. 1 e4 e5 2 Qh5 Nc6 3 Bc4 Nf6? 4 Qxf7# is pretty stupid. What were you thinking after 3 Bc4? What moves did you consider as alternatives to 3...Nf6? What did you expect your opponent to play after your 3...Nf6?

"my parents thought i could win the tournament" ++ They do not know about chess

"the thought i was an expert" ++ Reality check needed.

"Now they are dissapointed in me" ++ They should not.

"i am ashamed of myself" ++ You should not.

You’ve got to start working hard on your chess. Play a lot online, solve puzzles and watch videos about chess. Next time you should win and not disappoint your parents

Take some time to practice. Develop a process you use before every move and dont rush your games!

Hey, I know the feeling. I started my own chess tournament to play my friends, but I forgot to make it private. I ended up losing every game because I didn't know their playing styles. My advice is study just one or two openings, always keep your queen, and use the analyze function to see if your move is a blunder

Oh, and also play puzzles. They'll really help you see checks and checkmates
