I lied. I went back in my archives and found two games. this is the only one worth showing. the other one he just dropped his queen.

this is from about 10 years ago when I was a little higher rated and then I stopped playing chess for about 8 years.

Yeah, White messed that opening up pretty badly.

I would probably have played either 3. ... e6 or 3. ... Nf6 (looking at a very early Fork Trick with Nxe4 followed by recovering the piece with d6-d5. That will require a7-a6 first).

But the move you chose looks OK too.

may I post a Najdorf daily game that probably should have been a win for me?

Sure.

More on that Bd3 / Rhe1 / Nd5 line:

What do you do if Black decides to decline the piece and win a safe Pawn?

You sac your Queen.

is 10.Bd3 and 11.Rhe1 actually any good if black does not fall for any of the traps? should i just focus on 10.g4 and 11.Bxf6?

white played that game very strangely. As ive spent more and more time on chess.com ive noticed that the skill level of each rating has changed quite alot, with a 1600 playing more like a 1450, or a 1700 playing more like a 1570

I think the Knight sac is "dubious" because you really have to invest more than a piece if you want to keep the initiative against accurate defense. You have to invest a whole Rook, and unfortunately you only get compensation for a piece.

But Nd5 isn't White's only line after Bd3 and Rhe1. White can also play Qg3 instead of sacrificing... and if Black plays b5-b4 then I'm under the impression that Nd5 works NOW.

what do you recommend agianst 7.Qb6 or 8.Qb6? i usually play a3 but i want to know if learning the packed theory of the poisoned pawn is worth it?

blueemu

I usually play a3, too. grin

C5 sicilian is a suicide at high stake races!! It is very good to learn chess like its other brother king indian but you can only attain a draw if the opponent doesnt blunder!! Stop e4 with e5 and get your pieces out. Go now!!

I'm proud of this game, as this brought me to one of my strongest rapid ratings, along with it being my only win against an FM in rapid:

I haven't learned 6.Bg5 stuff yet. I may consider learning it in the future, but I'm already in the process of learning probably the two most theory-heavy openings there are (Ruy Lopez and Najdorf), so I'll probably wait until I'm done with one of those to start learning it.
