Where are you from ?
MY COUNTRY
I'm from Kraków in Poland. It is the historical capital of the country and today, quite definitely, the tourist capital of it. A really pretty place combining the small with the big in terms of scale and choke-full of historic relics.
i'm confused how you can be proud of something you have no control over or can never contextualize as you never grew up in another country.... but yeah!!! patriotism
n8boy, I absolutely get your point and to a large extent I share your opinion. I hate jingoism and nationalism. That's why I'm hesitant in calling the emotions I have toward my country, the people, the places and the history as "pride". I, too, feel like pride is a sentiment connected to achievement. On the other hand, I think that the love for the particular and for the near is good. If you can't appreciate what you have around, then it's possible you are going to have a difficulty appreciating anything, and especially -- the small things. Also, if people are aware of the little gems of the place they live in, they have something to share with others, and that's an exchange that surely enriches everybody.
Though my flag says otherwise, I was born in the United States, and currently live here. But my family is from Germany, and I speak a lot of German, so that's why it is my flag.
