Have you played much OTB chess in non tournament settings? If not, then get a training partner otb quick. It’s a completely different game

What will be the time control for your OTB tourney? Your rapid rating tells me you have most of your fundamentals in place, honestly try to find someone you can play with one to one and face to face, use a chess clock and learn how to become comfortable with chess notation. Good Luck!

The time control will be 90min + 30 s

Remember you have plenty of time (compared to playing rapid on this site) so check your chosen move for errors before moving. Remember to keep score accurately--should a dispute arise the TD has only the players' scoresheets to go by in making a ruling.

You don't need to make any special preparations or try to change you style of play, just play your normal game. And one bonus of otb play is you can usually get your opponent to analyze the game afterwards. You can learn a lot by finding out what they were thinking about during the game.

Just remember this really important rule. In official otb tournaments, being that it's ur very first one, u have to say check very loudly so all of the other players in the room can hear it. It's customary & it shows u adhere to traditional chess tournament etiquette. Everybody will appreciate it.
