I don't agree -
This just supports opponents of players who blunder winning positions. It also means that players would be promoting to rooks instead of queens.
Also, material "points" are nothing but a artificial construct - there's no real meaning to these numbers.
The vast majority of games, especially below master level, are never decided by brilliant sacrifices and combinations - it's generally just the opponent making trivial mistakes.
The current system is fine.
If the winner of a chess game has a material deficit they receive an extra 0.10 points per material point they're behind. For example a queen sac could gain you 0.90 points on a cross table. Double rook sac = 1.00 etc... The loser's score would not be affected.
In the case of draws the affect would be halved. Again the losers score would not be affected
This does not apply to ratings..........yet!
