That was about 50-50. I used to play the Najdorf A LOT with both sides, and I felt quite at home in that type of position.

I certainly saw as far as Be6 before I gave up my Queen, though.

this knight sacrifice is a common motif, i must ask what would you have done if 12..exd5? or is that theory?

The Knight sacrifice is not a forced win, of course.. but it's a reasonable move in an OTB game at my level (around 2000 rating).

How would I have replied to 12. ... exd5? Here's one possible line, by no means forced, of course:
