Think of how blest you are my darling. Now, close your eyes and smile. Halloween awaits you.

Blest with blindness and tunnel view to often. Good lord, show me the way ;-)

"Now, close your eyes and smile. Halloween awaits you."

-> Sounds like a great refrain of a great death metal-song to me - and this I like :-)

it is my advice that you should play comfortably (play what you like). I mean do not think of beating your opponent too much, since it probably make you feel nervous.

Do what you love and love what you do. Therefore, you should play with your own style. Wink

Just played a 30min. online game. I had my opponent on the verge of a checkmate - and I lost again in the end, because I was so exhausted of thinking, calculating.... Will post this also in the analyze section. WHAT WENT WRONG FOR GODS SAKE ? What´s wrong with me ???

And these are exactly the games which give me the shivers - to have absolutely no outcome in the end. I am so f.... up.

Up to move 20, White is better. Then 2 consecutive weak moves.

21 Ba5+? Better 21. f4.

22 Rc1? Better 22. Qc2. or 22. Bxd1.

bean_Fischer

I think nothing wrong with the game and you lost. The thing is you cannot accept the lost.

Nothing wrong with making weak moves. But should realize they are weak.

I think you may need someone, better than me to go over this game, because some of my ideas, may not be totally right.

1st off, this was a complex game, with many possible choices at many moves. You played some moves I wouldn't have necessarily played, however this was only a 30 minute game, which does not give you much time to think, especially if you are trying to improve your chess playing ability. This is what is causing you some stress, your lack of time to think.

You can hyperventilate by taking deep breaths, and it wouldn't help in this case. Longer time controls, is the only thing I could suggest in this particular case, other than just for fun games, perhaps you should play unrated games for awhile to see if that might help also.

One thing I noticed is on your 12th move, why not just play a4 immediately ? I think that would have been better than b3. Anyway thats not the only move you could have played by any means. Perhaps you should go back over this game and explain your thought process on why you played a certain move, instead of me trying to guess why you may have played it.

In your move b3, I am thinking you want to pawn storm him to open up his King, correct ? Its kind of obvious. Thats why I like a4 immediately, go after his King, notice the difference between the 2 moves. Also especially when your opponent castles Queenside, look for Boden mates, and the criss cross patterns, there are others as well.

You need to learn those patterns inside, and out. Do patterns everyone should know in chess mentor, it will help you greatly. Do them a hundred times if you have to. That will get rid of alot of your stress in games. Good luck.

Darling,

I sense you are trying too hard to win. Play for the enjoyment. Do this for me just one time. You can thank me later handsome.

I think you had the game on my 27. the move was Rxc7, your rook taking his knight was your best move I think. He probably would have taken your rook with his, then you retake with your queen, he trades queens, then you retake with your bishop. Look over the position. Your next plan after that, was to take his a pawn, and queen yours, or force him to give up a piece to prevent it.

My dearest PlanetBaden,

I will be ghosting over to Old San Juan, PR tonight for the Dia de los Muertos ceremony. We will be at the El Jibarito at 6pm tomorrow night sharp. Many of my friends and lovers will be there. Please show your handsome presence. I will be in a long thin black lace my darling. I just love this time of year. The enchantment is so alluring.

I was looking though the forum for the first time ever (too see what is up with the server), and I came upon your post. You've had too many replies so I don't know if you'll read this. If not I hope it helps someone.

I totally understand you. I feel the same way. Some times I feel so frustrated I just keep playing and find myself loosing 7 in a row... until I just stop and sleep on it (often dreaming about the games).

I have been playing chess for more than a year now. I have just finished a master's degree (MSc. in the UK) and I'm also lecturing students (in Venezuela). I take competition very seriously and that may be the reason for me to become frustrated.

From experience it has been helpful to play less games per day. and always begin with the three tactics puzzles before jumping into the game. If I find they are too tough I just don't play at all that day.

If you are reading books remember two things: 1) you need time to let what you learned become useful 2) at lower levels it may become harder to beat the players because they are not always playing how the books say.

I have this friend who just started playing here and he hasn't been able to break the 1200+ mark. He has played chess since little and has always beat me.

I recommend setting the games against +150 and -50 players.

Cheers and good luck!

Yes, I decided to quit live games completely. First up, there was a little development - but if you want to laugh go look at my last games...

!!! BUT !!!! : I think there is a solution to my problem. I just started playing chess on another site, played my first 10 matches, won them all, have a rating of about 1200 to 1300 and I am not stressed at all, even while playing this matches. And what is spooky: I did not make my patzers like in this account. Strange, isn`t it?

I GUESS NOW ITS THE DAMN RATING SYSTEM. I started here as a beginner with the general rating of 1200, lost hard during the first 10 or so matches - and never cured from this losing streak and limb around 700. You can imagine how this feels when every second day an administrator message comes in: Do you want to improve your chess - c`mon and pay you coward!!!

So as a message which may cheers up people in the same situation: Don`t f... yourself with this rating system. Do EVERYTHING in your favor to avoid stress and do not feel evaluated through this damn thing. It is not about ratings, it`s about the game !!!

LetsPlay226

what is your position at your job can you tell more specific about your career in your real life? it's interesting since you mentioned your job related to science, thanks in advance

LetsPlay226

for me chess is a game of plans they call them strategy tactic or positional structure, when you have plan A you may change it to plan B if plan A fails it goes on and on until your plan succeed no matter plan Q Z or W as it's all dependent on the situatiion on the board

Thumbforathumb

Sometimes I play well but then sometimes I just lose it and play horrible. If this happens how should I get back in the spirit of chess?

Camilo_bae

That's exactly the same with me ha
