Lola , if you understood chess better you would understand why it upsets me when people get titles they dont deserve , try and learn more about the game .
When you award titles on anything less than merit, titles in general are devalued, which is unfair to those who earn them fully.

I am qualified for CM title as my fide rating is over 2200 but I am not interested in paying for it and its simply equivalent to the NM title that I already have , from two countries . ( USA and Portugal ) Why would I want to pay for a title that a B class player can get by beating C and D class players ? It means nothing .

There are multiple ways to get a wcm title, which she was awarded not because of her rating but because of her performance in the Olympiad. It seems to me that many people have basic reading comprehension skills . I understand that she was awarded the title by FIDE for her Olympiad result . Her result of 50% in which all 3 of her wins were against opposition under 1400 is NOT impressive and certainly NOT deserving of a title that FIDE requires other females to earn a fide rating of 2000 to obtain and she is only a B class player ( 1600-1799 ) hundreds of points away from the required 2000 rating that others are required to obtain . These " direct titles " awarded by FIDE are often what I refer to as " affirmative action titles " and their recepients are often a joke . In this particular case they add insult to injury by making a movie about this person and referring to her as a " prodigy " which is absolutely ridiculous .
I haven't viewed the movie, but what I take from this discussion is that the film itself is good and uplifting, but the chess portrayal is over the top. Somehow, I'm not surprised. Even newspapers and magazines do that.
You dont see much of her games at all, only one smothered mate.
I think the point is that the girl did incredibly well, considering she lived in slum conditions with no electricity, no computer and no education.
How would Judit or other WGM's have done in those conditions?
