What is the average diffrence between your OTB play and your online play in refrence to rating?

RyanMK

Online chess rating will typically be a few hundered points higher than OTB rating, however it ultimately depends on the person.

It is alot, my USCF rating is 1206, but my rating here is 1626. Although I know I am underrated by USCF, opponents at 1200 I have easily beaten.

well... at the medium levels the rating difference is somewhere between 100-200+ points in most cases. so an 1800 rated player is at most cases an 1600 in OTB, and a 2200 might be a 2000 in OTB. but when you reach the highest levels of chess.com the rating inflation factor might give players with a 2200 OTB the opportunity to reach 2700 if they are consistant and play a lot of games over a lot of time on chess.com.

i remember that about a year ago, when i just signed in. the games with the highest rating from both opponents were about 2400-2500. now it's the same players with 2600-2700 ratings. inflation!!!!!!!

I've seen a lot of numbers thown around without any data to back them up. Given that you are talking about different skill sets and different populations, I would expected the actual differences to be too varied to provide meaningful estimates.
