is it just me or are like 1/5 of the blitz players right now joined within the last 30 days, im playing like 2150 blitz players and its really sus when I have played 10000+ games to achieve my ratings, yet someone who joined within the last thirty days gets there. are they cheaters or what? have you guys noticed this? its just kinda werid since i never saw this like a year ago...

I am playing rapid (10min) and i feel the same way. How come 80 percent of players i play at level 550 never blunder a piece? When i worked my way up to 800 last year l felt evenly matched with most players. Since then i have been crushed by 4/5 players i play and i have gone down to 550, and at 550 they are completely dominating me. Im not saying there is cheating going on but how is it most people i play never blunder a piece?

I find it very discouraging and some days want to quit because its not competative or fun to get crushed every game

Yeah I think it’s because you can set your rating when you create an account.

It’s usually a second account or they’ve been playing for a while on a different website or otb. Some of them might be cheaters, but a new 2150 rated account is certainly not proof of cheating

#4 also that but those players get to their real rating within like 10 games

What you will find pretty consistently on this website in regards to discussion on problems of cheating, is that "there is no cheating and that you just suck at chess". There are several bot accounts which act as moderators on this site, as well as troll accounts that basically operate to shut down discussion about how blatant the cheating is and how bad the cheat detection is. On this site, the reality is when it comes to massive disparities in rating or performance for a given ELO on this site is simply that 99% of the time it is either cheaters or sandbaggers. My ELO is ~1750 on Lichess, and about 1000 on this site. I can assure you that the cheating and smurfing is massively prevalent. Chess.com lies about their ability to stop cheating in marketing etc, but the second you call them out on it and ask for a refund you just get the refund, they don't stand behind their product at at all. The only cheat detection that is somewhat effective is for managed tournaments at the master level like Title Tuesday. That's basically as good as it is going to get, and they spend huge resources on it, and even that has been heavily criticized for its inefficacy.

You realize lichess elo is supposed to be much higher, and lichess has almost no protection against cheaters and therefore probably much more cheaters? Saying most players cheat is just trying to cope with being bad at chess

im pretty sure it has to do with OTB ratings or they just get there legit, just bcus they joined 30 days ago doesn't mean they didn't grind the game at that time

Otb players look to make new anonymous accounts to avoid prep otb

At 550 rating you guys blunder pieces all the time left and right, you just don't see it, so neither side can really profit from it. Also, I don't believe there's many cheaters in your rating range. Most of them start their fresh cheating account at 1600 rating and cheat from there upwards and usually get stopped after couple of weeks being at least 2000+

ngl, whoever grinds to 2150 blitz in under 30 days is a beast

Your last 5 losses were to accounts that have been open for

28 months
2 months
149 months
88 months
157 months

The 2 month old account was a registered NM on the site.

@real-rain says the problem is there is a grand conspiracy with paid trolls and secret mods etc... the actual problem with complaints like these is 9 times out of 10 you check their account history and the claim is nonsense.

first of all, I didn't "claim" anything, i said "are they cheaters or what? have you guys noticed this? its just kind of weird since i never saw this like a year ago..." second of all, i personally dont care what some random kid says who's rated 990 in rapid and hasn't even been on this site as long as me. i hate when people just dish any comment that even mentions the word "cheating" like "your wrong, it doesnt happen." I just said it was weird, since it is, since ive played 10000 games and I've never seen this before like a couple weeks ago

You claimed approximately 1 out of 5 of your blitz opponents joined within the last 30 days and asked whether other people had the same experience.

In reality zero of your last 5 blitz opponents (who beat you, which are the best candidate cheaters) joined that recently, in fact my impression was the opposite since multiple opponents who beat you had accounts over 10 years old.

Ok, so maybe if I checked the last 50 people who beat you... but that's pretty boring. I'll let you do that since you're the one making the claim. If 1/5 have accounts that new I'll be happy to admit it and say it's interesting etc.

i never said they beat me, and I abort to some

I played chess in rated over-the-board tournaments, including some that had a few Grandmasters among the players, for 40 years before I ever joined an online website.

You would have considered me "sus".

Chess didn't exist before the internet, so yes, only old accounts are allowed to have high ratings.

idk why you just like to pick on people on forums or smth, but I've been here for three years and in my experience, I haven't seen anything like this, I was wondering if anyone else would know, I got a few helpful answers, but i guess you just like to be narcissistic or smth.

@blackpearl, if you’re seeing this, please don’t quit, don’t let the haters get to you; if there comes a point in time where you have to close your account, then so be it; but by all means, please don’t quit.

A lot of 2000+ have alts unless their track record looks suspicious it's prob better to just ignore them
