Well he is right

Why make another forum on a topic that is being covered

---   Sorry but that is the wrong question. The right question is: Why Not ? LOL

This is already an active forum topic that is 37 pages long.  We don't need more of this.

---   Oh well Please excuse me Mister Forked_Again ! I had no idea that you had taken over this site. Did you buy out the previous ownership by any chance ? Mind you I see that you have been here since back in 2008 so perhaps you feel that gives you some extra clout  lol.

The topic is already covered.  Read this three times really slowly and maybe that little light bulb will go off in your head.

A well managed forum would already have deleted or combined.  Nothing of value here.

Then again perhaps you have not seen the funny side of this discussion. The other thread claims that Einstein was right whereas this thread states that Einstein was wrong ( still a bit confused are we ? ). Perhaps we need to draw you a picture ? These two threads are on opposite side of the argument ( seems simple enough to me  Rofl ). Furthermore the OP of that thread was only active at this site for 2 months back in 2017 and therefore is not around to give us more examples of his great and vast intellect.

Wrong.  The other thread asks for opinions.  You should have given yours on that thread.  This one needs to be deleted.

No in fact he immortalized chess by a famous quote - “Chess holds its master in its own bonds, shackling the mind and brain so that the inner freedom of the very strongest must suffer”. The only thing he disliked was the competitive aspect of it. He felt chess must be a game of artistry rather than sparring! His other two quotes on chess follows:

  • "The enormous mental resilience, without which no Chess player can exist, was so much taken up by Chess that he could never free his mind of this game."
  • "I have always disliked the fierce competitive spirit embodied in that highly intellectual game."

---   Well maybe if you try reading ( & try understanding ) the above post ( yes the one in the grey area  lol ) you will see where you are in error  Rofl. ( For the forked_genius ).

Thanks for the info LeasureTP.

its because it doesn’t “matter”, so m=0 implies E=0

and the speed of light becomes 0/0 and when you try to extract time from

the speed, it ends up a total waste of time because you won’t be able to get it.

Nice one

I suppose it's relative (yes, pun absolutely intended). There are several uses for time, such as sleeping, eating, personal grooming, working and relaxing. If you wish to relax and enjoy chess, then not a waste of time. However, if you should be working, then certainly it is a waste of time. It's all relative . . . .  happy.png

Oh, by the way, what should you be doing with your time right now?

badenwurtca

Thanks for the new posts.

As with anything.  If you allow something to become an obsession, where it interferes with the everyday essentials of life, then yes.

---   Well he has left us so soon, perhaps he has found a new obsession  lol.

Needless to say playing Chess is good mental exercise for older folks like me.

The question still remains: are all hobbies a waste of time ( Golf, Chess Fishing  etc ).

Well I don't know about anyone else but coming to visit these forms is often the high point of the day for retired people like me ( & playing Poker online, & visiting YouTube ). Mind you Tuesdays are also a big day in this part of town ( Yup that is garbage day  lol ).

An_asparagusic_acid

Einstein was an idiot.
