there's actually plenty of proof that has been shown already.  More than enough.

The proof is inside of his BUTT... Do you get the problem?  how is that "proof" ever suppose to be shown?

That's the dilemma.

It's so weird that you'd use the word "worship".  What're you talking about doofus?

"Support", or, "believe", on the other hand, is a much more reasonable word to use and much more accurate.

But go ahead, who needs discussion when you can just sit around and be full of yourself?

This is interesting. It's not so long ago that the forum was awash with members defending Niemann. It seems that public opinion has changed.

Proof has been shown.

Ok, what is it? (I'm not talking about online, it's been established that Hans admitted to online cheating).

A few things to unpack here. Forums are self-selecting and are not representative of 'public opinion'. Many of those defending Niemann were doing so emotionally or provocatively and will have had little to no thought process or logic behind it.

It seems many are resentful of Carlsen and think finding a perceived flaw in his character ("he's scared", a "baby", etc.) makes their own lives better. This isn't exclusive to chess however. The only other sport I follow is boxing and it's interesting how much correlation there is. You get angry fans trying to bring the elite guys down by claiming they're scared to fight some no-mark they edgily hype up.

Ultimately this results from a nexus of meaninglessness in atomised, internet-obsessed wealthy nations like the US and UK with no substantive problems, the paucity of online conversation and people's lack of self-control. There are other secondary factors like poor male role models too.

Hans.

Sorry guys. The dude didn't cheat against Magnus. He was utterly destroyed, then cried about it.

Vlandian_Knight

I back Nieman unless it was proven he cheated.

As I understand it, he was checked, frisked, and the like, but no proof he was cheating. No Magnus claiming it is not proof.

Magnus is seeming like quite the sore loser, Nieman is in his head.

Nieman is a young grand master, just nineteen, but if not him someone was always going to come along and be better than Magnus eventually. Check this out:

"

self-taught player, Niemann rose from an Elo rating of around 2450 to 2650 in just over three years after returning to the US.[18] Niemann first competed in a rated US tournament in December 2012. Just under 4 months later he participated in the 2013 SuperNationals V in Nashville with a rating of 2486, scoring 4/7.[10]

2014

In March 2014, Niemann's rating was just under 2000 at 10 years old, which allowed him to get an invitation to his first U.S. Chess School camp in St. Louis with coaches Greg Shahade and John Bartholomew.

That's amazing.

Well said Ebowie.

EBowie

Magnus' gut-feeling, Hans performance ratings, and YouTube videos showing maybe, maybe-not situations do not constitute proof.  So far, that's about all I have seen.  Until I am shown otherwise, I have to side with the accused.

Case in point, quote above. This is the kind of below average IQ comment which comes from the same type of person who will watch a considered, thoughtful and qualified public debate, latch onto the parts which reinforce their confirmation bias and extravagantly exclaim that the person they disagree with got "owned".

Americans seem to be particularly bad with this and because of their numbers its influenced the rest of the English speaking world.

Proof has been shown.

Proof of what?  Link?

1. Niemann used an engine when he played in a Titled Tuesday match on chess.com when he was 12.  2015?  Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CJZuT-_kij0&t=846s

2. Niemann cheated in a random unrated game on chess.com when he was 16.  2019?  Source:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CJZuT-_kij0&t=846s

3. Niemann cheated against Carlsen in an over the board match at the 2022 Sinquefield Cup, Round 3.  NO PROOF (or it has not been publicly shared).  Carlsen having a gut feeling or a suspicion is not proof of anything.

@MorningGlory84

Just because you can rattle off an intelligent sounding post doesn't make you intelligent.  I can do that too.  And just because the US is a wealthy nation, does not mean that it does not have substantive problems, as you said.  I grew up in the US, I recognize I am fortunate for that, but I also know what poverty feels like first-hand.  Anyone can generalize a large group of people based on where they're from.  You're from the UK, but I'm not saying you have bad teeth.

But you're not not saying it either.  Maybe it's time for a teeth reveal from @morningglory84 in accordance to the man child traditions of this site.
