Thought Process for Tactics Trainer

You could go with "checks-tactics-threats", although I believe basic tactics are mainly about pattern recognition, so maybe your best move would be to go through a tactics textbook to become more familiar with the patterns.
A lot of it depends on your level and over/underthinking the problem. Generally, I would stick to hanging pieces, possible checkmates, purpose of pieces (for sacrificial purposes), threats, then determining the purpose of the tactic (checkmate, draw, etc.). And in that order.
Let me know if I forgot anything.
I'm having a slump in my tactics training , lately i seem to missing a lot of simply tactics because i'm looking for a more complicated solution.
Does anyone have any ideas about an organised thought process for these exercises?
