Was Alekhine a Nazi?

He had Nazi sympathies, and he was strongly encouraged (he said, "forced") to write Nazi propaganda during the War. 

There were many who called for a boycott against him after the War.

The nazis opposed the communists , who killed Alekhines brother and slaughtered other upper class Russians and was a threat to Alekhine himself so I find his nazi sympathies quite natural myself . The enemy of my enemy is my friend ... 

What about his anti-semitism? Is that equally "quite natural"?

Were the communists jews ? If so , then yes . If not then the answer is no . 

Did you read the article, Lasker? There's plenty of reason to believe he was at least sympathetic to the Nazi cause. 

Maybe he was a Nazi, or held Nazi sympathies. Maybe he was just doing what he believed he needed to do to survive. There's also the possibility that many of his articles written while he lived in Nazi-occupied territory were partially forged by the editors of the publication he wrote for.

From what I've read he doesn't seem to have really demonstrated any anti-Semetic behaviours or speech in his personal life, or before and after living under Nazi rule. Then again, the writer H.P. Lovecraft was markedly anti-Semetic, yet married a Jewish woman, so who knows. Folks can be self-contradictory.

That's easy, Reb:  he thinks she's purty.

People aren't always consistent. I had a great uncle who was racist as all hell, and a bonafide Klan member as well. That didn't keep him from having a hispanic mistress however.

I think that it may be quite safe to say that the Jewish race 

is not universally loved. 

Especially in places like The Gaza Strip.

It isn't mandatory to like Jewish people.

Anti-semitism is only a problem if taken to extremes, for instance..

..expressed with violence or hate speech.

Everybody in the world is anti-something or other.

Needless to say, there are millions of " good " people from Israel,

but the " bad " ones give the anti-semites ammunition, as it were.

The thread is more than four months old. We aren't talking about neo-Nazis, we're talking about the Germans who fought in WWII. Alekhine's letters and articles both before and during the war do suggest he was pro-Nazi.

The Alekhine I know was a nazi sympathizer.

Alekhine was not just "sympathizer" : he was nazi. See this article, Parizer Zeitung, "Arisches und judisches Schach", 18-23.03.1941. He was killed by French "death squad" after the war.
