What do you think about people saying gg before a game is officially over?

Agree. And I'm still waiting for Red to send me a challenge. happy.png

If the game is not finished then I consider it disrespectful. I will resign when I choose to, but if someone said that to me I would continue playing just out of spite, even if I was going to resign before. In the USCF rulebook it clearly falls under the category 20G "It is forbidden to distract or annoy your opponent in any manner". It's annoying and it is clearly intended to annoy so don't do it.

is a polite hint to resign the damn game stupid

I’m so stupid for not resigning to someone doing this, that I beat them. Hmm. I should have given into their idea that they were going to win the game. Darn.

A player that is lost and doesnt resign is not worth playing ever again. Like I said gg is just being polite to the inexperienced or the too stupid

in a losing position, I wouldn't resign unless if I can see a mate ahead of me but if were mid game and im down a bishop i won't resign cause you could still blunder

Sometimes I say GG if I know I’m beat but I’ll play on in case there’s a blunder or a chance I can gain counterplay.

Same here.

Really? Who even cares about stuff like this?

I agree. Many of us choose to play G/3 G/5 with very difficult defenses like the Pirc or Indian. With pressure coming from broken positions, winding clocks, losing materially, I find it in poor taste to resort to a tactless method of operation to text anything at all during a chess match, Shut up and get ready for your next match. The WPT allows you to make faces during match play, however, never, ever a word of text. I don't need any generic response before , during or after match play, Therefore, I have concluded it is useless to complain about it!

Saying GG before the game is over has happened to me a couple of times and I’ve paid forward the ugliness a couple of times, but it’s like saying “HA HA, I am clearly winning and I want to rub it in before you take off.” Anyone who says otherwise is being disingenuous. Own up to your ugliness. For my part, I’m not gonna do it again.

If someone is absolutely refusing to resign in a lost position (I mean no way to win) then yes I will.
