What is considered to be the main rating on Chess.com?

Play some rated, see what rating(rapid) you get. I'm actually curious.

It sounds wimpy of me to say I wont play rapid after using silly reasons to disparage rapid players... but honestly in the last 10 years I've never played rapid online for fun (unless it's been a simul).

Someone gift me a membership and I'll see what kind of rapid rating I can get playing 5 game simuls at 10|15

Since I'm a Daily player, I'll tell you the truth: "Daily".

How dont u have a FIDE title?

In order to get a FIDE title, you need to have a FIDE rating.

In order to get a FIDE rating you need to play in FIDE tournaments.

I live in the back woods of New Brunswick, in maritime Canada. The nearest "big city" is 6,000 people. I'm probably the only person within 100 km who plays chess.

The last time there was a FIDE rated tournament in this area was sometime last century (not kidding!).

... so no, I don't have a FIDE rating, let alone a title. I'm just a very talented nonentity.

Oh ok then

I think FIDE ratings are the main rating, since you have to have a good FIDE rating to get a title.

Even though not too many HAVE a FIDE rating.

If not too many people have a FIDE rating, then it is not the main rating. You can become an NM with a good uscf rating, so that means that could also be a contender for the "best rating".

Your new avi is cool man 🤣

It was drawn for me by Nick Krain, back when I worked with him on the Untalkative Bunny project. He's now a Director in Hollywood!

Here's the full drawing:

In some sense I agree with you.

At the same time, his old one was a stock photo... he wasn't even the only forum poster who used it.

This one is a flat cartoon drawing, but it has more character and relates to his past in a more personal way.

My two cents.

No, llama, it's just that I'd gotten so used to the old profile picture it feels like talking to a completely different person. Even the status just hits differently.

I liked your Bishops mitre- you should wear it on Holy days.

The upside down cross made it a little awkward though, particularly if I wanted to use it for holy days tongue.png

But thanks.

Lots of different religions have holy days. Easter, for example. Passover. Saints' days.

The average rating is relative.  When intoxicated the average rated is 2.  When mildly constipated the rating fluctuates depending on how well the laxatives are working.  When confused by paranoid delusions, its....well whatever the voices in your head want them to be I guess

Each category requires different skills. In general, good “short game” players have fast reflexes and know a lot of theory.

Good “long game” players know a lot of theory and are more creative.
