What is the proper way to play the K+Q+P(s) v K+Q endgame?

So, I have this endgame:

I have pawns on a4 and b4, King on b5 and Queen on c5.

Opponent has no pawns, has a King on the kingside somewhere (say g3) and a Queen that can check my King on the light-square diagonal.

What's the right way to play this endgame?  I know that my goal is to trade Queens and to queen one of my extra pawns for an easy K+Q v K endgame.  I know that my opponent's goal is perpetual check.  How do I avoid perpetual check?  Is there an alignment of my K and Q that will help me prevent perpectual check?

Is this game currently active right now?

No.  Ended with me zugzwanging the guy after a long drawn out series of checks.  I won.

I'm just asking for future reference.

Queen endings are a crapshoot.

Just don't roll snake eyes.

Tapani

Push the pawns. Do not drop them.

If possible try to walk (you are being checked) your king in a position where he can not check or you can parry the check with your queen with a check in return.

...and don't roll boxcars either.

Gomer_Pyle

There's no special alignment. Use both your queen and your pawns to help shelter your king from checks. Push the pawns whenever possible. Eventually, one of them will promote.

Queen endings are a crapshoot.

Your best chance to win is with a natural seven.

Stop with the useless guidelines.
