What's your playing style?

What's your playing style?  Apparently, from what people tell me, my playing style is unorthodox. Not sure if "unorthodox" is a playing style, but oh well.  Tongue Out

trysts

My playing style is like spilling butternut squash soup on the floor and trying to clean it up with Kleenex.

AndyClifton

My playing style is like trying to knit a sweater out of squash soup.

I do! (oh sorry...you said "not").

Doggie Style

zBorris

My style in any given position over the board, resembles someone rearranging the furniture in their living room. Pointless, random, and my thoughts are like, "What's that piece doing over there? It would look better if I moved it over here."

I'm not sure. But I do not do openings.I do not like to castle.I like to pawn structures.

My playing style is:

inferior move, inferior move, stupid blunder, some tactic that almost makes up for it except that they did something I didn't expect and saved themselves.

Phylar

You know the Freudian Slip? I call mine the Fischer Whoops.

chasm1995

I call mine the Idiot Move.

Cidragon

my chess friends tell me literally : "you play like a rat".

Post-triumphalism. An "unattached to the victory" style/worldview.

Positional. I used to be more tactically aggressive (looking to be pretty and fancy when it wasn't there) and got tired of losing won positions because I felt compelled to finish them off IN STYLE!! Well instead of !!'s I was whipping out ??'s and playing what Silman calls the idiot combination. But now I'm back! And I've been studying Art Of Attack by Vladamir Vukovic. Maybe Ill be able to use a more solid, wiser, positional style as a foundation from which to be aggressive. Positionally aggressive. Or......... when I return Ill play even fancier idiot combinations.

Solid, "create no targets" is what I tell myself in OTB games.

MrDamonSmith

I'm now even considering doin it Gangnam style after watching that video.

To play fairly solid for about twenty moves and then blunder :( Once this happens (usually from missing a threat) I collapse. Happened in 3 of my games in the National Open. I was winning in all 3 too which makes it worse.

Nothing compared to my last game lol. Guy was pushing hard and I pushed back then promptly missed checkmate for two full turns.

Heh...

The game then lasted for quite awhile after that little miss. I won...but geesh.

asvpcurtis

About a year ago, I missed a checkmate in two against an opponent rated much higher than me here at the Las Vegas Chess Club. We wound up drawing. He hadn't played in a long time so he was very rusty, but it still would have been a nice win.

I ended up in a position like this as white and made the wrong rook move.

Grinmaster

Whenever it's my move I curl into the fetal position and weep.  After about 20 minutes I compose myself and unleash a twelve move mating net upon my opponent.  Unfortunately......I lose all of my blitz games because they only last 10 minutes.

kramnik like lol
