Garfield... because he probably is more familiar with the CATalan Opening. 

Glad to see the graphic artist, whoever he/she is, set the board up correctly.  (A white square in right corner and Queens on their own color.)

Garfield is better when he tries, but often he is too lazy to calculate so the duck wins.

Thanks this is part of my experimental research to see if anything of value can be extrapolated from scenes depicting pop-culture cartoon characters (past and present) playing chess against each other. 

The puns you've shared indicate that there is something in the minds of chess players, some faculty whereby anything and everything can be related to chess with a little creative word play. 

Donald Duck wins because he calls Toodles for a Mousekatool to help him figure out the right moves!  Probably end up being the Mystery Mousekatool!

donald duck would win but I think with his temper that he would be a bad loser.

Garfield would most likely play very slow and run out time because he thinks about lasagne.
